The job is not the riding

People assume a rider spends the day on the road. The riding is the easy part. The job starts when the address is vague, when the customer does not pick up, when the food is ready and the gate is locked. Those situations are the difference between a service that is reliable and one that apologises.

What we ask for, and what we provide

We ask for a valid licence, a phone that lasts the day, and real knowledge of the neighbourhood. We provide the training, the insulated bag, and an app that keeps working when the network drops, because a rider with no signal must not become a rider with no orders.

Three things we changed after listening to them

  1. Waiting time at the kitchen is now visible and counted. Before, a rider standing 12 minutes outside a late kitchen lost that time for nothing.
  2. Two orders are only batched if they leave from the same place. Batching 2 distant kitchens looked efficient on a screen and was efficient nowhere else.
  3. Difficult zones are flagged by riders themselves, not by an algorithm, and the information is shared with everyone.

A rider at the end of a shift
The insulated bag is not an accessory: it decides what state the food arrives in.

What a rider earns, and how

Pay is per trip, not per minute. That is a choice with a reason: paying per minute rewards speed, and speed on a wet road is exactly what nobody should be encouraging. Long distances and hard hours are uplifted, and the breakdown is visible before the trip is accepted.
